Bundaberg Jabirus Darwin Trip June/July 2006

DAY 1: fri  16^th           631m           BUNDABERG TO WINTON

We depart Bundaberg First light and track via Emerald, refuel and pit stop, stretch the legs, onto Longreach, for morning tea, Winton for the night.  Hotel or camp your choice.

DAY 2: sat 17^th          428m       WINTON TO ADELS GROVE

Depart Winton, stop at Cloncurry for a pit stop, then Burke & Wills Roadhouse for lunch and onto Adels Grove. Camping, or Cabins, Avgas available. Packed lunch can be arranged and a bus hire 10klms into Lawn Hill Gorge. The day is then free to take in some of the very interesting and picturesque walks or hire a canoe and paddle up the gorge.

DAY 3: sun 18^th                        REST DAY

Bus trip to Riversleigh fossil dig site booked for 9 persons

DAY 4: mon 19^th                       REST DAY

Bus into the gorge for the day, walk the rim of the gorge and swim after to cool down.

DAY 5: tue 20^th          181m           ADELS GROVE TO NORMANTON

Depart Adels Grove for Normanton and ride the Gulflander.

DAY 6: wed 21^st

We go for the run on the Gulflander over night at Croydon

DAY 7: thur 22^nd

Return to Normanton.   Sunset Cruise on the river at 5.00pm?

DAY 8: fri 23^rd            373m        NORMANTON  TO KING ASH BAY

Depart first light for Borroloola over flying Burketown, land at Hells Gate for pit stop and coffee or fuel, refuel Borroloola, then onto King Ash Bay.

DAY 9: sat 24^th                       REST DAY

Fishing Charter

DAY 10: sun 25^th       258m       KING ASH BAY TO MATARANKA

Depart for Mataranka, Camping, or cabins or Motel

DAY 11: mon 26^th        124m       MATARANKA TO COOINDA

Refuel tindal,  then overfly Jim Jim and Twin falls on the way to Cooinda

Arrive aprox lunch time set up tents,

Booked for 9 persons on the sunset cruise 4.30pm

DAY 12: tue 27^th         30m         COOINDA TO JABIRU

Fly to Jabiru

Hire cars to drive to campsite and  for exploring around the area

Drive out to the jumping croc cruise ?

 DAY 13: wed 28^th                     REST DAY

 Tour Kakadu

 DAY 14: thurs 29^th                    REST DAY

Tour Kakadu

DAY 15: fri 30^th          137m      JABIRU TO DARWIN 

Depart Jabiru for Darwin will have to assemble and fly into Darwin as a group

DAY 16: sat 1^st                     REST DAY

DAY 19: tue 4^th        566m     DEPART DARWIN TO TENNANT CREEK

Fly over Litchfield N.P. on the way to Tindal

Fly down the Stuart Hwy to Tennant Creek for the night, refueling as required

DAY 20: wed 5^th        257m      TENNANT CREEK TO MOUNT ISA

Land at Barkley Homestead for morning tea

Land at Camooweal for a pit stop and lunch? Then onto the Isa for the night

DAY 21: thur 6^th

Tour Mt Isa ?

DAY 22: fri 7th         541m     MOUNT ISA TO CHARTERS TOWERS

Depart the Isa, land at Richmond for overnight or refuel, pit stop and a look around at the fossil centre, onto Charters Towers for the night. If we stay at Richmond we can fly straight home and miss Charters Towers.

DAY 23 : sat 8^th

DAY 24: sun 9^th      548m   CHARTERS TOWERS TO BUNDABERG

Depart Charters Towers for Emerald to refuel and pit stop, morning tea? Onto Bundaberg and home.
